Effective as of 12pm tomorrow Friday June 12th category 2 open fires will be prohibited in the Nadina Fire Zone, including the the Nadina Forest District.
Meanwhile the existing Category 3 open burning prohibition will be expanded to the entire Northwest Fire Centre, including the Nadina Forest District, the Coast Mountain Forest District, and the Skeena Stikine Forest District.
Anyone conducting a Category 2 or Category 3 open fire within these regions must extinguish any such fire by 12:00, June 12, 2026.
These prohibitions will remain in place until 12 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, or until the public is otherwise notified.
Also in Terrace Category 3 fires will be prohibited as of 12pm tomorrow Friday June 12th.
Throughout the Coast Mountain Forest District and Skeena Stikine Forest District.
This prohibition does not ban Category 1 (campfires) that are a half-meter high by half-meter wide or smaller.
The City of Terrace follows the direction of the Northwest Fire Region, and this ban will be in place until further notice.
