Fifteen-year-old Vancouver Island musician James Vickers is set to begin his first tour, performing in Indigenous communities throughout British Columbia. His tour will take him to Bella Bella, Prince Rupert, and Hazelton, areas with strong family connections. James’ great-grandfather hailed from Bella Bella, and his uncle, the celebrated Indigenous artist Roy Henry Vickers, is a well-known figure in their community. Having started playing guitar just five years ago, James has steadily built a fanbase in Nanaimo and is now ready to share his music with a wider audience. His father, Noel Vickers, is not only his biggest supporter but also his tour manager, and the two are excited about the journey ahead. While James feels some nerves, the tour represents a significant step in his music career. With the support of his family, including the legacy of his uncle, James is eager to inspire other young artists and connect with his community through his music.
