Nechako Lakes MLA John Rustad Acclaimed as Next Leader of BC Conservatives

Nechako Lakes MLA John Rustad has been selected as the next leader of the Conservative Party of BC.

Rustad is also the party’s newest and only sitting member in the House, after deciding to cross the aisle last month.

That decision came after he was ousted from the Liberal Party after 17 years, due to a history of questioning the science behind climate change.

Earlier this month, Conservative Leader Trevor Bolin announced his intent to step away from the role, launching a leadership race.

But, Rustad was acclaimed as the new leader today, with no one else stepping up to run against the long-time MLA.
