Fresh Federal funding is on the way to help reduce emergency wait times and improve access to primary care in Indigenous communities.
An investment of $2 billion over the next 10 years aims to address gaps in service, and support Indigenous health priorities.
Funding will ensure the availability of quality, culturally safe, health care services, and improve access to mental health and substance use supports.
It also aims to provide easier access to health information for patients, and their health care providers across jurisdictions.
Ottawa will be working with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities over the next few months to implement the new Indigenous Health Equity Fund.
