A collaborative partnership between two Cariboo-area First Nations has been honoured with a prestigious award.
Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation was selected in October as one of 8 winners of this year’s Indigenous Business Awards, handed out by the BC Achievement Foundation.
Selected as Partnership of the Year, CCR is a joint-venture between the Tsideldel and Tl’etinqox First Nations, founded in 2017.
It was initially formed to address the abundance of dead pine in the region, and to rehabilitate mountain pine beetle-damaged forests near Alexis Creek.
In the years since, they have combined traditional and innovative approaches to bring about sustainable change in the area’s landscape and economy.
Moving forward, their focus will be on coordinating large-scale forestry initiatives, while supporting economic opportunities on their traditional territories.
A few weeks ago, CCR released a video on the win and what the award means to them.
