Early Friday Morning, the Usk Chapel, located northeast of Terrace, was seriously damaged by a fire.
The Thornhill Fire Department was called out to the fire at 6:30 in the morning and discovered that the wooden cross behind the church was where the fire had started.
On the Chapel’s Facebook page, they sent out a post saying that the damage on the back of the building was repairable but extensive and they also called the fire “a malicious act of vandalism”.
The cause of the fire is still currently under investigation but according to fire crews, if the fire was started intentionally, the damage would have likely been significantly worse.
There have been no reported injuries that resulted from the fire.
A page for people to donate money in order to help pay for the church’s repairs has been started by The Terrace Christian Reformed Church.
