British Columbia’s most vulnerable people will now be able to acquire a fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
A second booster shot is now available to those aged 70 and older, Indigenous residents aged 55 and older, and immunocompromised individuals.
In addition, all residents living in long term care or assisted living homes will also be able to get the second booster, regardless of age.
Regardless of age or situation, residents must wait 6 months after getting their first booster to get their second.
To go along with that, the province has announced plans for a vaccine campaign taking place this month, available to all long term care and assisted living homes.
Those looking to pick up rapid anti-gen test kits at their local pharmacy will also no longer be required to present their medical services card.
Plans to lift the legal requirement to present vaccine cards on Friday will also remain in place, though some businesses may choose to keep the requirement.
In line with that, the province will also be lifting restrictions requiring post secondary students living in residence to be vaccinated.
Health care professionals, however, will still be required to be vaccinated.
