One individual is dead, and two are in hospital, following a two vehicle collision in Dawson Creek from Friday.
Police received initial reports of the collision, at the roundabout on Alaska Avenue and 8th Street, at around 3:45 in the afternoon.
RCMP, fire crews, and paramedics all responded to the scene, to find a Ford F150 pickup had collided with a Ford Escape operating as a taxi.
Surveillance footage, and discussions with witnesses, led police to believe the driver of the pickup had lost control prior to the crash.
Through investigation, police determined the truck had been driving on the railway tracks for some time, before eventually cutting across the roundabout, knocking over a lamp post, and colliding with the driver’s side of the taxi.
Responders pronounced the 60 year-old driver of the taxi deceased on the scene, and had the passenger and driver of the truck transported to hospital to treat their injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate, and anyone with information they believe to be of assistance should contact Dawson Creek RCMP at 250 784 3700.
