Residents of the Houston area can expect to see some smoke in the coming weeks as the District conducts a series of prescribed burns.
Pile burning roughly 7.5 kms south of Houston, along the Morice River Road, and Peacock Forest Service Road began today.
Wildfire mitigation activities are set to take place in the area, under close supervision, until May 31st.
Pile burning in the area is just one part of the community wildfire risk reduction project, funded by the Forest Enhancement Society of BC, and undertaken by Protech Forest Resources alongside the Wildfire Service.
Other activities included the harvesting and re-utilization of wood and other materials in the area recommended for the fire break.
