As delegates with three Canadian Indigenous groups begin meetings with the Pope in Rome this week, one group is issuing disappointment for their exclusion.
According to the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples, their lack of an invite leaves off-reserve, and non-status Indigenous groups without representation.
They say they are disappointed they were not included in the delegations, but are urging those who are to consider all Indigenous Peoples in Canada in their discussions.
Three groups were selected by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops to attend: the Assembly of First Nations, Métis National Council, and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami.
The CAP says they have been in discussion with the Conference since, and look forward to working towards reconciliation together in the future.
