National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations are set to return to Williams Lake this summer.
Organized by the Northern Shuswap Tribal Council, the celebration and parade will return to the community on June 21st.
In 2020, the event has to be cancelled entirely due to Covid restrictions, and last year’s celebration was held digitally.
Youth and Outreach worker Valerie West has been hired as event coordinator, and will now begin forming the NIPD 2022 Committee.
Invitations to join the committee have been extended to local First Nations, community groups, businesses, societies, school groups, and the City.
A virtual planning meeting is being held on April 4th, and anyone interested in joining, or becoming involved in anyway, can e-mail NIPD2022@nstq.org
