In order to help secure more food options for people in Northern BC, a group of students from UNBC have created an initiative focused on providing sustainable food called the Eco-Living Kitchen.
This initiative was created to respond to a call from the Fraser Basin Council for people from 16 to 30 years of age to make climate solutions as part of a provincial project known as Co-Creating a Sustainable BC.
The Eco-Living Kitchen began operating in April of last year and provided locally sourced/low waste food to 75 Prince George residents for free.
And now, the Kitchen partners up with UNBC Food Services and PG PIRG’s Good Food Box initiative one Friday every month to host a Community Cooking on Campus event at the Agora Dining Hall.
More Kitchen sessions are being planned for March 18th and April 1st and students will be able to register for one of these sessions by searching up Eco-Living Kitchen on social media.
