In the aftermath of yesterday’s weekly health update, Dr Bonnie Henry is encouraging everyone who hasn’t gotten a booster dose yet to get one.
Henry mentioned that vaccines lessen your chance of getting infected by 60 to 70 percent and they also really help with preventing COVID related hospital visits.
According to Henry, there has been a steady decrease in COVID hospitalizations over the past month with 47 percent of those who did get hospitalized not being vaccinated.
Another couple of stats that were talked about by Henry was the fact that 60 percent of BC residents that are fully vaccinated also have a booster dose and that 2.6 million of the doses administered so far have been boosters.
It was also revealed at the conference that a new plant based vaccine, known as the Medicago vaccine, just got approved for the 18 to 64 age group.
