An Alberta man was arrested in Fort Nelson last week after he tried to get out of a speeding ticket by claiming to be Jesus.
On Monday, officers pulled over a truck which had been travelling 117 km/h in a 50 km/h construction zone on Highway 97, near Tetsa River.
Initially, the driver was cooperative with the officer, until he mentioned a seven day vehicle impoundment, at which point the driver began claiming to be Jesus.
At this point, the officer informed the man that if he did not calm down, he would be apprehended under the Mental Health Act, after which the driver began to stabilize.
But when the officer returned to his car to call a tow truck, the driver exited the truck and began running down the highway claiming to be Jesus and having visions.
He was arrested under the Mental Health Act, and a search of the vehicle found a large bag of suspected magic mushrooms.
Officers then entered in to an impaired driving investigation, and forwarded files to the Forensic Lab.
