BC’s Environmental Assessment Office has publicly issued Coastal GasLink two non-compliance orders relating to their pipeline.
Two enforcement orders were issued covering numerous issues which go against the project’s environmental permits.
Issued in November, the orders came around the same time as an RCMP injunction enforcement along the pipeline’s route.
That enforcement saw a number of land defenders arrested who had set up a blockade in opposition to the pipeline’s environmental impacts.
CGL says they respect the Office’s findings, but that they only represent a small sample size, a snapshot taken at the time of the inspection.
They say erosion and sediment control is dynamic and changing constantly, and that they are in turn constantly adapting.
In addition, they say immediate action has been taken to remedy the findings.
CGL has submitted their responses to the findings, which must now be verified by the Office.
