More funding is on the way to help the Dease Lake Airport get up to snuff.
In what is its second contribution to the project, the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine has put forward another 200 thousdan dollars for the upgrade project.
That comes on top of a 50 thousand dollar investment made by the District last August.
A 2018 inspection revealed a number of problems with the airport, which is currently not certified for passenger landings.
Eventually, the Stikine Airport Society project was given a price tag of around 6 million, which has since been increased to an estimated 11 million dollars.
Work on the project is ahead of schedule, with an expected opening slated for next March.
