The Federal Government has sent out a statement saying that BC residents that either lost or were displaced from their jobs as a result of the recent extreme flooding, should apply for employment insurance benefits as soon as possible.
Carla Qualtrough, the Federal employment Minister, gave a statement of her own saying that the federal government will also be waiving the need for applicants to get and then show a record of employment, since they realized that even getting the necessary documentation right now would be a rather difficult endeavor.
She also said that the government will be looking at the possibility of people may have already used their benefits after using them for pandemic relief.
The final thing that Qualtrough said was that the government is going to find a solution to this problem and Ottawa is going to help out affected residents for as long as they need to.
