A toxic drug alert has been issued for the Williams Lake area, following test results on a recently discovered sample.
According to Interior Health, the tested samples contain as much as 30 percent fentanyl and benzodiazepines.
It is being sold as a yellow, chalky substance, sold as down, with users experiencing prolonged periods of sleep and drowsiness.
Users are being advised to get drugs tested before consumption, avoid mixing with other drugs and alcohol, avoid using alone, carry a naloxone kit, and to start small and space out use.
The alert will remain in effect until at least April 15th.
