Haisla Chief Councillor Crystal Smith is firing back at Hollywood celebrities, like Mark Ruffalo, who have taken aim at LNG.
In an opinion article posted on the National Post, Smith writes about her Nations involvement in the LNG Canada project, and the Coastal GasLink pipeline which will feed it.
She says that her Nation is for responsible development, and that, after years of review, they determined natural gas to be environmentally safe.
But Smith also speaks about the benefits of having a share and a say in a project, which she says are paving the way to a brighter future.
In the article, Smith says the Nation is pursuing their economic development and working with companies that are committed to Indigenous rights.
She says that that is the way to a future free of unemployment, despair, and helplessness for thousands.
