BC residents impacted by the extreme weather events over the past couple of months will be able to re-aquire many personal documents for free.
Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, Sean Fraser, announced today that Canada would be replacing said documents free of charge.
That includes: passports, refugee travel documents, certificates of identity, citizenship certificates, and permanent resident cards.
Fees will also be waived for re-issuing status documents, and visitor status, study and work permits damaged by the floods.
In addition, fees will be waived and deadlines extended, for all those who were unable to apply on time to extend said permits.
The measures are retroactive to November 15th, and will remain in place until May 31st of next year.
