Funding is finally on the way to conduct a feasibility study in to ending a 5 year water advisory in Tatla Lake.
In December of 2016, users of the West Chilcotin Trading water system received a Do Not Consume notice, due to high arsenic levels.
Most of the Tatla Lake water supply comes from said water system, and discussions with West Chilcotin and Interior Health to upgrade the system have gone nowhere.
In light of the discussions, Interior Health suggested the community construct a new well, using the Community Centre’s property as a site.
Now, the Cariboo Regional District has agreed to undertake preliminary analysis towards a potable water solution.
They have provided 23 thousand dollars from their Rural Feasibility Reserve Fund to cover the expenses.
Currently, potable water in affected locations of Tatla Lake is being brought in from Williams Lake.
