Two buildings that have been a part of the Smithers community since the 50s may not be for much longer.
Both the Smithers Civic Centre, and the Ranger Park building failed to make it on to the Town’s Building Replacement Reserve list.
According to a report to Council, both buildings are set for future sale.
But that didn’t sit well with Councillors, who say that the buildings and their users are beneficial to the community.
The Civic Centre was built in Terrace in the 50s, before being purchased by and brought to Smithers.
The Ranger Park Building currently houses Bulkley Valley Search and Rescue, and the Collaborative Society.
Council directed staff to place the buildings on the Condition Assessment Report, and hold off on any sales decisions until it is complete.
