Up until the pandemic, many seniors in Terrace came together to meet, socialize, and partake in fun events at the Happy Gang Centre.
But, the pandemic forced the closure of the facility, operated by the Terrace Old Age Pensioners Association.
Last week, the Centre reopened their kitchen for the first time in two years to begin serving lunches once more.
But the kitchen, as well as other parts of the Centre, are in need of upgrades and repairs.
After receiving approval from the City, the Association is now set to apply for federal grant funding from Ottawa’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
Under the program, projects which seek to improve the lives of seniors can apply for up to 25,000 dollars in funding.
