Salmon harvested by a remote First Nation off BC’s central coast will soon be hitting shelves in WalMarts across Canada.
Produced by the Kitasoo/ Xai’xais First Nations, Klemtu Spirit Hot Smoked Salmon will soon be available in more than 330 stores, country-wide.
Klemtu Spirit is made of Atlantic salmon, farm-raised off the coast of Swindle Island, which is prepared and packaged by First Nations in the Town of Klemtu.
The product is a culmination of a 30-year partnership between the two Nations and seafood producer Mowi Canada West.
WalMart says that this is just the beginning of their partnership with the Kitasoo/Xai’xais Nation.
