A few more of the residents of Merritt will be able to go back to their homes tomorrow as the start of Phase 2 of the city’s return home plan gets put into motion.
However, the city’s staff did say that will be dependent on the city’s final water testing results, which are supposed to be in sometime later today.
Linda Brown, Merritt’s Mayor, stated that with some people being able to go home, it was another major milestone as the city is still trying to recover from last week’s major flooding event that forced every resident to evacuate the city.
But a boil water advisory will still be in effect for the start of the return to Merritt and the people that are returning are being told to use as little water as possible so that there’s still enough to use for fire protection.
