The BC government has sent out a statement saying that they’ve been making headway on the province’s recovery after last week’s floods since supply chains have started to stabilize, gas shortages have eased up a bit and a few evacuees have been allowed to go back to their homes.
BC Officials also said that the major supply route on Highway 1 could potentially open up today, but they did warn that more storms are likely to pass over the areas having issues recovering from the floods.
Rob Fleming, BC’s Transportation Minister, said that the government is preparing to close some of the roads while these storms are on going as a precaution and he also stated that modellers are trying to predict when and where floods and mudslides might happen.
Another thing that the Province is doing is asking residents to be ready to evacuate and to look out for storm updates and they also added a new contact centre line in order to provide emergency support as well as information about financial aid, road conditions and more.
