The BC Wildfire Service says there’s plenty of smoke visible in the South Cariboo, but wildfires are not currently threatening any homes or communities.
Officials say smoke from several fires in the 100 Mile Fire Zone is visible in 100 Mile House, 70 Mile House, and Clinton.
The 70 Mile Fire, about 15 km southeast of the community of 70 Mile House, is listed at 15 hectares and showing aggressive behaviour
Two new fires were found Tuesday, with the largest in Moose Valley park at just over a hectare. Officials say airtankers reinforced retardant lines on a group of four fires near Horse Lake.
The Wild Goose Lake fire in the Big Bar area escaped its fireguard Tuesday and has grown to over 100 hectares.
The Lang Lake fire is estimated to be 100 hectares in size. Crews will begin constructing guard around the blaze Thursday.
The wildfire service says ground crews, aircraft, and heavy equipment have been making progress with airtankers and strike teams.
Officials say all of the wildfires have been assessed and are being responded to in priority sequence.
