The situation around the Dog Creek Trail Wildfire northwest of Vanderhoof is improving.
The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has called off an evacuation alert due to reduced fire risk
The BC Wildfire Service says cooler weather and rain have helped firefighting efforts.
Officials say more accurate mapping lists the fire at 425 hectares. While there was growth from strong wind Thursday afternoon and evening, there was no additional growth Friday and overnight Saturday.
Crews and heavy equipment are continuing to make a guard around the blaze.
