Gitxaała Enterprises Corporation (GECO), the owner of the iconic Crest Hotel, is excited to announce the acquisition of Chances Convention Centre, effective February 23, 2025.
This new partnership will combine the Crest Hotel’s top-tier accommodations and dining options with the Chances Convention Centre, creating a premier hospitality destination for Northern British Columbia.
“We’re building a world-class destination on B.C.’s Pacific Coast by uniting these two facilities,” said Michael Uehara, CEO of GECO. “This acquisition is not just about growth—it’s an investment in Prince Rupert’s future as a hub for tourism and events.”
With the 107-room Crest Hotel, the award-winning Waterfront Restaurant, Charley’s Lounge, and the 6,000-square-foot Chances Convention Centre, the new venture will enhance the city’s ability to attract conferences, weddings, and other major events, boosting both tourism and business.
While the short-term focus will be on a smooth transition, long-term plans are already underway to provide a seamless guest experience. Both properties will continue to operate under their current management, so locals and visitors can expect little change in the near future.
