BC is extending an initiative to help get people experiencing mental health and substance-abuse crises the help they need to the North.
Prince George has been selected as one of three new hosts of the Province’s new Peer Assisted Care Teams program.
They will help to support people in crisis wherever they may be on a personal level, while connecting them with follow-up supports.
Each team will be made up of local residents with lived experiences and mental health professionals, who will serve those aged 13 and up.
Team members will get between 80 and 100 hours of training as they help to ease the load on local police and hospital emergency rooms.
