After years of advocating for services closer to home, residents of Northern BC now finally have an official passport office to call their own.
Last November, Ottawa announced their plans to begin offering express, urgent, and 10-day passport services in Prince George.
While the office was initially intended to open last month, the Public Service Association strike would end up delaying those plans.
But the delays are finally over, with 10-day services now being offered at the Service Canada office in Prince George between 8:30 and 4:00 on weekdays.
Those looking for next day pick-up, however, will still need to travel to Vancouver for the foreseeable future.
Despite that, the new office should cut down on the nearly 17 hour drive some northerners had faced to access passport services.
