UPDATE 2:
Shifting winds have pushed two massive wildfires away from the City of Fort St John, allowing them to lift their evacuation alert.
But, a number of properties in other communities in the area remain under evacuation alerts and orders, with four fires of note in the area.
Estimated to be covering over 43,000 hectares, the Donnie Creek fire west of Highway 97 in the Tommy Lakes area is the largest active blaze.
But it’s the Stoddart Creek and Red Creek fires, south of there and north of Fort St John, which are proving to be the most problematic.
Those fires are currently covering a combined 25,000 hectares, putting several communities along Highway 97 north of Taylor under alerts and orders.
But, crews are continually making progress, with the longest standing alert, covering the 6,200 hectare Boundary Lake fire, being lifted today.
In addition, an evacuation order issued for the 385 hectare Cameron River fire, just west of Highway 97, has now been reduced to an alert.
Check with your local municipality or First Nations Council for additional evacuation alert and order maps.
