Covid Cases Up, but Hospitalizations Continue to Drop, According to CDC’s Weekly Report

Both the province and the North saw an uptick in Covid cases last week, though hospitalizations continue to trend down, according to the CDC’s weekly report.

Between June 26th and July 2nd, the province saw 765 new cases of Covid-19, up from 620 the week before.

Hospitalizations, however, dropped to 172, provincewide, down from 209 the prior week, with 24 deaths within 30 days of testing positive.

Northern Health reported 34 new cases, up from 31, with 5 new hospitalizations, down from 6 the week before, and no new deaths.

By Local Health Area, Terrace saw 5 new cases, Haida Gwaii reported 3, Burns Lake saw 2, and the Stikine reported 1 new case, Prince Rupert, Kitimat, Smithers, and the Nisga’a and Upper Skeena Health Areas all saw 0.
