In addition to people being inducted into the order of BC today, several British Columbia residents have already been recognized for their contributions to veterans.
Earlier today, Minister of Veterans Affairs Lawrence MacAulay gave the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation to six people native to BC for their outstanding volunteer work and support of veterans.
Ever since 2001, when the award was created, it has been given out every year to the people that improve the care and well-being of Canada’s veterans or honor the sacrifices they have made.
Around 1,200 people across Canada have received this award since it’s inception.
The names of the people that got the award this year are: Corporal (Ret’d) William H. Costain, Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel Donald Graydon Foster, Jenny Michelle Konkin, Ronald Archie Lundin, Staff Sergeant (Ret’d) Joseph L. MacDougall, Lieutenant Yvonne Melo .
