Welcome to another episode of journeys with your host me Kelly Kenny. For tonight’s episode I was able to speak with an inspiring singer/songwriter Donita Large.
Donita is a #1 chart topping singer songwriter from Saddle Lake First Nation, Alberta she currently resides in Edmonton Alberta.
Donita was immersed in Metis, country, and gospel music from a young age; she used and continues to use music for healing. Donita has since added blues, rock, traditional and contemporary indigenous music to her genres.
In this interview we reminisce about family visits and how important family life is to us; we also talk about her journey into music and how the pandemic helped some of us pause.
It was during the pandemic where Donita decided to put her focus to her music. I am grateful she decided to such as you will hear after the interview two of Donitas song, Ancestors in my bones released on November 2021 and her first single “Going to walk that line” released June 2021.
So stay tuned after the break SingerSongwriter Donita Large sharing her story with us here on Journeys with your host Kelly Kenny.
