Holding space, raising awareness about, and commemorating the many Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-spirit people our communities have lost was the focus of yesterday’s Red Dress Day, held every May 5th.
And while we only dedicate couple of days to come together on this issue, many people are taking up the fight and raising awareness 365 days a year, whether it be through grassroots activism or through art and music, like our guests tonight.
Buffalo and Good Eagle are a brother and Sister duo from South Dakota, who are releasing a new EP with their band the Black Owl Society, called “There’s A Fire”.
It’s bluesy, powerful and tells the stories of MMIW. In our interview, we’ll get to know Buffalo and Good Eagle a bit more, including about their time in a different family band. We’ll also get to hear a couple of songs of the EP.
