Video has surfaced of two men pulling down red dresses hung along the highway near Ladysmith on Vancouver Island.
In the video, two men can be seen pulling down the dresses that were hung on trees, then throwing them into the bush. The dresses were hung along the Island Highway, as a memorial to Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls. According to the Facebook post, the video was taken on April 10th, in the Oyster Bay area.
In a statement, Aaron Stone, the mayor of Ladysmith, calls their actions “beyond disgusting” and “absolutely reprehensible.” Ladysmith RCMP say they have not received any reports or complaints about the incident so far.
CW: Anti-Indigenous Racism A good friend sent me these videos, hesitant to post or share in case of backlash, yet…
