Canada Post is announcing a strategy to renew its long-standing relationship with First Nations, Metis and Inuit people as well as Northern Communities.
Canada Post will commit to undertaking shared partnerships with Indigenous People and Northern Communities and to make real and sustained progress throughout Canada.
This strategy has four key pillars: Improving postal services to Indigenous and Northern communities, developing and implementing an Indigenous Procurement Policy, improve Indigenous employment and retention and support the viability, wellness and safety of Indigenous communities.
A new policy is now in development and expected to take effect in the second quarter of 2021, Canada Post will redefine its business relationship with Indigenous-owned companies based on trust, economic reconciliation and good business sense. There will also be service improvements to these communities.
Canada Post will also be improving Indigenous representation in its workforce to reflect the country and the communities it serves.
