Quesnel RCMP are investigating multiple thefts and fraudulent purchases that occurred in a single day.
On October 29, a woman allegedly entered the GR Baker Memorial Hospital and subsequently stole a worker’s jacket, purse, and wallet. The woman then attended a second business and stole another worker’s credit cards from her wallet. The woman went to four businesses in the city making numerous purchases using the stolen credit cards.
While the woman was making these purchases in the West Park Mall an employee became suspicious and called security. When the security guard identified himself the woman attempted to run out of the mall. The guard grabbed her and a struggle ensued, the guard then held her until police arrived.
Sgt. Richard Weseen, of the Quesnel RCMP, states, “The police are investigating the actions of the security guard during the detention of the woman as well as the criminal activity leading up to the incident.”
A citizen had downloaded a cell phone video that captured part of the incident between the security guard and the woman. RCMP are currently looking for this citizen.
