The B.C. government has extended the provincial state of emergency.
On Friday, Aug. 21, police and other provincial enforcement officers were given the ability to ticket people violating the orders on gatherings and events.
Premier John Horgan says, “it’s encouraging to see that the vast majority are following public health rules. However there still remains a small group of people ignoring the orders.”
In the first week of these new enforcement measures, 10 violation tickets were issued. The state of emergency is now extended through the end of the day on Sept. 15, 2020.
