In the morning yesterday the Prince George RCMP as well as other emergency services received a report of a fire at a motel on the 900 block of Victoria St.
When emergency crews arrived on scene they found a portion of the building on fire. The area was then closed off to traffic as emergency crews helped evacuees. At around 12:30 p.m. fire personnel located three people deceased in the building.
Police were advised by fire crews that the blaze was suspicious but the investigation is still in its early stages and cause has not yet been determined. The Prince George RCMP’s Serious Crime Section was called in to lead the investigation.
The BC Coroners Service is conducting a parallel investigation to determine who died, how, where, when and by what means they came to their unexpected deaths. Due to the privacy of the deceased, identity will not be provided.
Further details will be released as they become available. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the detachment at 250-561-3300.
