The NDP candidate for Skeena-Bulkley Valley is asking his competitors to support a pledge to end open-net fish farms on the B.C. Coast.
The pledge campaign is organized by the Wild Salmon Forever Society over concern about the impact of opent-net facilities on the health of wild salmon.
Taylor Bachrach says after another difficult year for Northwest salmon, it’s important to do everything possible to ensure a healthy future for salmon.
Skeena-Bulkley Valley Conservative candidate Claire Rattée has declined to support the pledge, while Liberal candidate Dave Birdi and the Green Party’s Michael Sawyer have yet to respond.
The PPC and independent candidates running in the Skeena-Bulkley Valley riding were not listed on the pledge website.
The responses to the pledge can be tracked here
