RCMP in Houston found themselves surrounded by flames after responding to an assault call this weekend.
Initially, police were called out to a residence on Mount Davis Way after a woman reported that an armed man had broken in to her home and attempted to assault her.
When police arrive on scene, the man fled from the main building to a nearby cabin on the property.
Officers then reported hearing an explosion from the cabin before smoke began to escape the cabin, followed by the suspect.
After a struggle with police, the man managed to break free and make his way back toward the cabin.
By that time, the structure fire had spread to create a brush fire nearby, pinning the suspect and officers between the blazes.
With the assistance of locals, police were able to escape with the suspect, and have him immediately medically assessed on scene.
He was transported to hospital where he remains while police ponder charges.
