Flames razed a home on 3rd Avenue West and seriously damaged two others Wednesday night.
Prince Rupert Fire crews were called out shortly after 6 p.m. to find fire moving through three houses next door to the Pacific Inn.
Guests from the hotel were evacuated as a precaution while smoke choked the downtown core.
Traffic was shut down along 3rd Avenue West between 9th Street and Fraser Street as fire crews tried to keep the flames from spreading to the hotel.
