As they continue to sort through issues stemming from a fire at the recycling depot, the Town of Smithers is set to provide weekly garbage collection.
Effective on June 10th, the Town will begin providing weekly garbage collection while they work to re-establish curbside recycling.
Only bagged materials placed in green residential garbage carts will be collected in the meantime.
Recyclable goods are not to be placed within the residential garbage carts.
Residents are still encouraged to store their recycling or to bring it to the Smithers/ Telkwa Transfer station themselves.
Town staff are currently working with Recycle BC to come up with both temporary and permanent solutions.
