Local and First Nations fire departments are receiving a funding boost, thanks to the provincial government.
Five million dollars will be distributed among smaller volunteer and composite fire departments through UBCM via the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund.
This investment represents the first time that First Nations communities have been included in the CEPF program.
According to Minister of Public Safety Mike Farnworth, the smaller the department’s budget, the more funding they will have access to.
