Smithers Mayor Taylor Bachrach has confirmed that the Town has been without a chief administrative officer since January 21st.
Former CAO Anne Yanciw was let go without cause, prompting the town to pay Yanciw a severance of just over 96 thousand dollars.
Bachrach refused to shed any further detail on the matter.
Recruitment procedures to find a replacement have been launched, with director of corporate services Diana Plouffe filling the role on an interim basis.
Tanciw had previously been let go without cause from a similar position in Valemont in 2015.
