A 2 thousand year old Indigenous village is being repurposed in to a class room.
The village, near Duncan, was uncovered in the 90s and holds evidence of ancient tools and architecture, as well as an ancient burial site.
The Cowichan Valley School District now plans to work with Indigenous elders to plan field trips for 3 local schools to the site, where they will learn more about First Nations history.
The site takes up 2.4 hectares near the base of Mount Prevost, where Indigenous people say their ancestors first landed.
