The provincial government is looking to lend a hand when it comes to flood mitigation.
The Union of BC Municipalities has released 9.5 million dollars in emergency preparedness funding to go towards structural flood mitigation in BC communities.
Funding will be added to the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund as part of 33.5 million dollar plan.
The funding will focus on: risk assessments and planning, streamlining emergency social services, and ensuring that emergency operations centres are well supplied.
Additional funding, focused on evacuation procedures will come in 2019.
