Researchers at the University of Victoria may have made a breakthrough when it comes to the treatment of depression.
A recent study at the University has linked the large protein reelin to depressive symptoms in rats, possibly offering a future way around anti-depressant medications.
Reelin is responsible for many cell-to-cell interactions within the brain, including assisting in food to energy transfer.
The study found a direct link between depressive symptoms and a lack of the protein.
